As well as being a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Principal Nick Thomas is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing Construction Industry Group (CIMCIG). He has previously worked as a Marketing Manager for both developers (Laing Properties and Arlington Securities) as well as construction consultants (Citex/Bucknall Austin and E C Harris) before setting up the consultancy business in 2002.

Rider Levett Bucknall

Since 2005, we have worked with Rider Levett Bucknall (formerly Bucknall Austin) on a wide variety of assignments in the UK and internationally. This has included project managing the global launch of RLB in 2007, strategic planning, working with them to develop their European network of partners and undertaking feasibility studies in a number of countries, including the Middle East and India. We have also produced the annual Caribbean report on their behalf for the last six years, involving research into the opportunities in the construction market for each of the major 25 islands.

Budget Hotel Report

A contractor client was looking to enter the budget hotel market. They were aware of some of the opportunities in this expanding market and had made some useful contacts, including with the market leader. However, they were unsure whether this was likely to be suitable for their operation and sought an external view.

We produced a report which analysed the market in terms of forthcoming projects, typical project value, profile of the key players (notably Premier Inn and Travelodge), competitors, use of modular construction and procurement routes. This also included contact details of all the main players (not only end-users, but also agents, architects and QS/PMs). As a result of our findings, they decided that this was not a market that was worth pursuing – unless their development arm had a suitable site – and were able to focus their attention on more promising areas.
